Palantir stock explodes 30% on solid earnings and revenue beat

Palantir delivered one of the strongest earnings reports of the season. Palantir stock surged nearly 30% on Tuesday. The move marked the stock’s strongest single-day gain in more than a year.
Shares of Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ: PLTR) surged nearly 30% on Tuesday after the artificial intelligence and defense software company reported stronger-than-expected second-quarter results and raised its full-year revenue forecast.


Palantir said rising demand for its artificial intelligence products helped drive record performance during the quarter. The US-based software company specialises in big-data analytics and artificial intelligence. Its platforms allow organisations to integrate and analyse large volumes of information to support operational and strategic decision-making.


Palantir Posts 93% Revenue Growth


Palantir delivered one of the strongest earnings reports of the season, posting earnings per share of $0.41, compared with analysts’ expectations of $0.33. Quarterly revenue climbed 93% year over year to $1.94 billion, supported by strong demand for the company’s AI-powered software. Growth was particularly strong across Palantir’s U.S. government and commercial businesses. U.S. government revenue increased 90% to $809 million, while U.S. commercial revenue surged 149% to $764 million. The company signed 220 contracts worth at least $1 million during the quarter. Of those, 73 were valued at $10 million or more.


CEO Alex Karp Calls Results “Otherworldly”


Palantir Chief Executive Alex Karp described the company’s second-quarter performance as “otherworldly,” adding that demand for “AI sovereignty” had been unleashed. Karp’s net worth reportedly increased by approximately $3.1 billion to $15.3 billion as Palantir shares rallied on Tuesday.


Palantir Raises Full-Year Revenue Outlook


Palantir raised its full-year revenue forecast to more than $8.15 billion, indicating that the company expects strong demand for its AI products to continue.


Following the earnings announcement, Palantir shares climbed as much as 30% during regular trading to approximately $163. The move marked the stock’s strongest single-day gain in more than a year and reversed a months-long decline.
